My Path Wasn't a Straight Line
I Chose Massage Therapy to Solve Problems
Before becoming a Registered Massage Therapist, I worked as a natural gas production field operator and in law enforcement.
Those careers taught me discipline, resilience, and firsthand lessons about what physically demanding work can do to the body.
Day after day, I watched hardworking people push through pain because they had families to support, bills to pay, and responsibilities that couldn’t wait.
I lived it myself.
Long shifts. Repetitive movements. Injuries. Stress.
Over time, I realized I wanted a career where I could make a direct impact on people’s quality of life.
I returned to school, graduated as valedictorian both years of my massage therapy program, earned honours with distinction, and pursued advanced clinical training across North America.
Today, I combine that training with real-world experience to help people find answers to pain they’ve often been living with for years.
Because too many people accept pain as normal when it doesn’t have to be.
"I didn't choose massage therapy because I wanted a relaxing career. I chose it because I wanted to solve problems. There's something incredibly rewarding about helping someone who thought their pain was just something they had to live with finally experience relief."

The Story Behind the Name
Where it all began
The Muscle Mechanic name didn’t happen by accident.
Long before becoming an RMT, Lauren was drawn to mechanics, problem solving, and understanding how complex systems work. Her experiences in industry, combined with her background competing in Skills Canada, helped shape the practical, results-focused mindset she brings to treatment today.
Just as a mechanic looks beyond symptoms to identify the source of a problem, Lauren believes effective treatment starts by understanding what’s contributing to pain, movement limitations, and recovery challenges.
Whether working with a tradesperson, athlete, parent, or active senior, her goal is the same: help people move better, feel better, and get back to doing the things they love.
The Philosophy Behind YMM Muscle Mechanic
Pain Is Certain. Suffering Is Optional.
Pain affects everything.
- How you sleep.
- How you work.
- How you parent.
- How you show up for your family.
- How you feel about yourself.
At YMM Muscle Mechanic, massage therapy isn’t viewed as a luxury.
It’s healthcare.
The goal isn’t simply to help people relax for an hour.
The goal is to identify dysfunction, restore movement, reduce pain, and help people get back to the activities that matter most.
Every treatment is personalized because every body is different.
There are no cookie-cutter treatment plans and no one-size-fits-all approach.
I believe people deserve answers, education, and treatment that addresses the root cause of the problem whenever possible.
That’s why YMM Muscle Mechanic has become known as The Mechanic Shop for the Human Body.
Your body works hard every day.
It deserves expert care, regular maintenance, and the right tools to keep it performing at its best.

Proudly Serving Fort McMurray
Built in Fort McMurray. Built for Fort McMurray.
Fort McMurray isn’t just where I work. It’s home.
As a long-time resident, business owner, and single mom, I’ve experienced many of the same challenges my clients face. I understand the demands of shift work, physically demanding careers, busy schedules, family responsibilities, and the importance of staying healthy enough to keep doing the things that matter most.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about helping people move better, recover faster, and live with less pain.
Whether I’m working with tradespeople, first responders, healthcare workers, athletes, parents, seniors, or youth athletes, my goal remains the same: to leave people better than I found them.
My vision for YMM Muscle Mechanic is simple:
To help build a stronger, healthier community by helping people live with less pain, greater mobility, and more freedom to enjoy life.
Beyond the Treatment Room
The Person Behind the Practice
When I’m not in the treatment room, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, supporting local initiatives, continuing my education, or enjoying everything Fort McMurray has to offer.
I’ve always believed in leaving people better than I found them. Whether I’m working with clients, supporting my community, or spending time with family, that belief continues to guide everything I do.
"The most rewarding part of my work isn't treating pain. It's seeing people return to the activities they thought they'd have to give up."
